Inspire Block Printing is an enterprise based in Chester, UK. It is run by Amy Bonsall (the Block Printing Professor) and Sarah Guest, who consults and supports and Lauren and Megan who assist with workshops, social media and marketing.

Why Block Printing? It is intensively creative, and you don’t need any drawing/painting skills.

It is suitable for all ages and abilities. It is green! You can give new life to old clothes, you can even

print paper and add it to furniture!

Our philosophy

Inspire Block Printing was set up to bring the joy of this ancient art to the North West of England and North Wales. Indian block printing is a captivating art form that melds tradition with accessibility, making it a delightful activity for people of all ages and abilities. This ancient technique involves carving intricate designs into wooden blocks, which are then used with water-based fabric paint or acrylic paint, and stamped onto fabric, or paper, or even air dry clay; creating beautiful, repetitive patterns. Block printing is a fantastic way to appreciate and participate in a rich cultural tradition that has been passed down through generations. The joy of seeing handmade prints come to life is truly unparalleled, making Indian block printing both fun and fulfilling.
